Tyra at the front desk truly went above and beyond during my stay. I was not feeling well this evening and needed some hot water. Even though it was after hours, she took the time to help me without hesitation. Her kindness and willingness to go the extra mile made a difficult evening much more comfortable. She genuinely cares about her guests, and it shows. Tyra is an outstanding employee who absolutely deserves to be recognized for her exceptional customer service. On another note, while the hotel itself is beautiful, I was a bit underwhelmed by the pool area. The pool was much smaller than expected, and there was very limited shaded seating available. It didn't quite match the overall quality and atmosphere of the rest of the property.

I stayed here for one night as I was in town for an event. My general thought is that the hotel is basically a Courtyard plus $200. The rooms are laid out the same. It's a pretty generic Marriott property with different fit and finish. Some of the small touches in the rooms make it an elevated experience, but for as nice as the accessories and furniture are, I think the client care side of it is what made it not so great of an experience for me. At that price tag and based on some of the reviews I've read, I was expecting a similar experience. Not only did I not get that experience, but I felt largely invisible when I was at the property. Granted, I stayed for one night, but even upon checking in, the person who checked us in did very little to make us feel welcome, did not offer us a glass of complimentary champagne but offered us water instead. I had to repeatedly ask to have my Marriott status added to my booking, and the entire interaction felt awkward and weird. The folks in the bar area were pretty friendly, and valet was friendly and welcoming as well. It was a bit shocking to see the difference between what seemed to be unanimously positive reviews versus my experience at the hotel, which was lukewarm.

From start to finish, this experience was top-tier! The valet service was professional and welcoming, and I loved being greeted by name when I walked into the spa — such a special touch. The front desk staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure I was completely comfortable. Now for Leanna — she truly has the hands of an angel! She was patient, asked all the right questions about my stress and pain points, and made me feel completely at ease. I left feeling transformed and like I was walking on clouds. Best birthday gift ever! I will definitely be back and highly recommend Leanna!

Disappointing stay. I find that Marriott is becoming increasingly hit or miss over the past few years. We are platinum elite members, so obviously we are staying in quite a few Marriott hotels. The Gaylord Palms in Orlando was a tremendous experience just a couple years ago. The last two times we stayed there over the past six months, there have been things that were closed and construction projects that were a nuisance, so coming to this hotel here in Birmingham, it's in the same "luxury" category of Marriott hotels as the Gaylord, so I figured we'd experience similar quality, hopefully without the problems. We didn't experience any problems, but the quality wasn't there. The hallways smell musty and disgusting, like the carpet is 20 years old. The restaurant, you expect is gonna be tremendous, because the prices are extraordinary, $17 for a small mixed drink, for example, but the food wasn't good. Then, the breakfast. The coffee was good, just like always in the luxury brands. But the steel cut oats was room temperature and there was like a tablespoon of unmelted sweetened butter on top. The flavor of the steel coat oats would've probably been great had it been correctly cooked and at the right temperature, but instead it was kind of like al dente steel cut oats at room temperature +5°. One of the main reasons for staying at a luxury hotel when we're just driving across the country so that we can have a great experience at breakfast and not have to waste time going somewhere else. With the experience we had here, we would've been better off just going to some roadside hotel and then eating breakfast at a restaurant after. Very disappointing. This place feels like it's trying to be some kind of bougie hotspot, but it feels old and rundown. We will not stay here again. This means Birmingham is yet another city that we don't have a place that we would like to stay when we drive-through. I think the only remaining hotel that we like in Alabama is the Renaissance Shoals in Florence.

This is my favorite hotel. Everyone from valet to housekeeping reminds me of pre Covid service. Bodi at the front desk makes me feel so welcome and remembers all the repeat guests by name (I don’t know how he does it!). Really, the level of hospitality is remarkable. I travel all over the world and this property is on par with the best Ritz Carlton’s. I would not stay anywhere else in Birmingham.
