La Fonda on the Plaza

We booked two nights as part of our exploration of New Mexico. Last year we stayed in an apartment a few blocks away from the plaza; this time we thought we’d stay right there. The hotel was very busy, a different vibe from last year’s quiet neighborhood. The room was well-appointed, if a bit small compared to more modern hotels. We were impressed by the level of service. The staff in the lobby and rooftop lounge were courteous and pro-actively helpful. (We didn’t try the restaurant.) We paid for two nights valet parking, and we found the service prompt and helpful. We were pleased to find out that check out was noon, and we could leave our car and luggage for as long as we wished that day.

This is the place you want to be in Sante Fe. Pretty much on the plaza so you can't be in a better spot for walking to shops and restaurants. We had a corner 2 queen which was a pretty good size. Massive closest in the room which is good for storage. We had an issue with our shower the first night and while we were our the next day the had completely fixed the issue. We never made it up to the sunset bar but did have drinks in the lobby which were very good. Valet parking only which was fine although when we checked in there was no one at the valet stand so we pulled a ticket and self parked which is not what you're apparently supposed to do. You just have to plan for the extra time it takes to have them get your car each time you want to head out. We never waited more than 10 min. They have a valet until 11pm, not sure what you're supposed to do after that. Pool is nice, unheated, but that was ok as it was very hot out. Great stay, this is the place to stay in Sante Fe for a very fair rate.

Neat rooms and grand ambience. Walkable distance to all tourist attractions. The bell tower on the top floor had great view of the town and super friendly staff. Perfect spot to catch the sunset. Hotel has valet service however there is no direct access to the garage from the hotel lobby. It’s barely a 1 min walk but would be more convenient if the garage had direct access.

We've loved staying here! The location is perfect - we're a block from everything including the plaza with live music, tons of restaurants, and all kinds of interesting shops, galleries, and museums. We chose a one bedroom suite with a fireplace that included a balcony. We probably spent more time on the balcony than we did in the room - the desert sun is so warm even when the temps are chilly. The hotel service is outstanding. Everything is thoughtful, and they seem to anticipate all our needs. I appreciated the concierge's text messages and reminders about fun happenings in the hotel. We really enjoyed the live music, and the lobby bartender is a magician. The valet was super responsive and kept our electric car charged for us. The room was very clean and well appointed. We loved the rustic historic charm, as well as the chocolates on our pillow. Pro tip: bring your wall plugs, not just your charging cables for any devices - it's a historic hotel. I would 100% recommend the hotel to everyone and we'll be back. Thank you!!

Beautiful hotel in the heart of downtown! The location is perfect, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and the artwork throughout the hotel is stunning. Every detail is thoughtfully designed, even the glass over the fire extinguisher is painted. There’s also a restaurant on-site that always seemed busy, though I didn’t get a chance to try it. My only complaints were the shower, which had poor water pressure and no door, so water got all over the floor, and the room door, which swung shut very fast. The handle actually hit my hip as I was leaving and left a small bruise. It may have just been my room, but it’s something to be aware of, especially for older guests. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back!
