Beautiful property with with nice, shady trails and many birdwatching opportunities! There's an interpretive center and a book/gift shop. Parking is free and entry is by donation. So fun to see the wild turkeys running around!
Nice little place to walk around with a few loop trails through some fields. There is a community garden on the property with a great variation of flowers, vegetables fruit growing.
It was a lovely day to hike all of the trails at Gilsland Farm. Didn't see a lot of wildlife, but there were turkeys, chipmunks, squirrels, and several different species of birds. The trails were a little bit wet in spots, but nothing that couldn't be avoided...only once did we turn around...but it turned out better that way.
Maine Audubon's Gilsland Farm is such a magical place! Several miles of trails meander through meadows, pond, and forest ecosystems, allowing great looks at birds and just a nice place to relax. They also have regularly spaced benches for those wanting to sit and take in the views and birds! They offer events like guided bird walks--free for members--and have a beautiful peony garden that you don't want to miss in June!
We attended the Pollinator parade. Loved all the different activities set up. Water tables with flowers, bubbles and eatable sensory play. We brought a picnic to enjoy after the parade. We will attend next year!
