Truly an amazing museum. We took a tour with Dave and it was FANTASTIC! We learned so much and had a good time doing it. After the tour we roamed the property for hours taking in all the sites/exhibits. You could easily spend a day here. The staff were so friendly and even recommended us a lovely spot to grab a bite to eat. Highly recommend!
Awesome experience doing the bath iron works story experience. $60 gets you a VERY knowledgeable guide, short tram around the city, and a boat ride to get right up next to all the destroyers being built! Having been underway on a destroyer before, it is incredible to see and learn about how they are built.
We had an amazing time at the Maine Maritime Museum! We took the Bath Iron Works tour and the guide was very knowledgeable. It was awesome to have a chance to see the destroyers under construction up close.
While camping in the region, we decided to tour the museum as an escape from the oppressive heat and we're glad we did. Maine's shipbuilding history is so deeply woven into the fabric of Bath, so learning more about the people, ships, and impact added to my understanding and appreciation. The main building was booming with young children visiting the vibrant Chris Van Dusen exhibit, while several of the other buildings were closed because of the extreme heat. (It is definitely worth checking out the Snow Squall: An American Clipper exhibit)
We visited the Maritime Museum for the second time, and it was just as impressive as our first visit. Seeing the Wyoming and realizing the incredible size of this historic six-masted schooner is truly awe-inspiring. The exhibits are well done, and there’s always something new to appreciate. It’s definitely a place worth visiting more than once.
