Mikasa Nikkei AVL

Mikasa catered our wedding in September and the food, service, and staff were all incredible. I was looking forward to dinner all day because I knew how delicious our meal would be, and our guests agreed! So many friends and family complimented the food, even saying it was the best they'd ever had at a wedding. The staff were so friendly, attentive, and patient– it was a joy to have them be a part of our big day. Thank you, Ana, Santiago, & team!

We could not have found a more perfect caterer for our wedding reception! Simply put, Mikasa AVL is THE BEST! My now-husband :) is half-Peruvian, so when we discovered that there was a Peruvian caterer in the area, we were already thrilled. We chose to do a tasting and that was that...no other option. They had all of the dishes we were hoping for (Papa a la huancaína; Ceviche de trucha; Lomo Saltado; and Ají de gallina). One of the most amazing things was that they accommodated a special request for a desert made with lucuma. The mousse that Chef Santiago created was simply divine. (and I believe it is now a part of their menu offerings) The food is beyond delicious, but what's also important is how Mikasa AVL goes above and beyond from there. Amazing communication. Very well organized. The staff that was with us on the night of our reception were spectacular. The extra special touches on the decor, at our buffet, was such a cool addition. They were also willing to work with us on any allergies or special dietary needs. Ana was on-top of everything. I really never felt like I had to worry. From start to finish, of this experience, we couldn't be more grateful! ¡¡¡Gracias!!!

Mikasa and Chef Santiago were phenomenal. They catered our last minute private dinner for a birthday and the customer service was excellent and Ana was extremely communicative throughout the whole process. The food was exceptional and all of our guests, including picky eaters were satisfied with all of the courses. I would highly recommend Mikasa AVL and would use them again in the future.

We had Mikasa for our wedding catering, and I can't thank them enough for the incredible job they did!! From the tasting, to our special requests, they absolutely nailed our vision for our wedding food. They pulled off authentic Venezuelan appetizers that impressed our Venezuelan family members, and their Peruvian dishes like the lomo saltado were raved about by our guests. Literally the only complaint I heard on our wedding weekend is that a guest wanted more cake (she had two pieces). Another guest specifically told me that he doesn't normally eat all of the food on his plate at weddings but he had scraped his plate clean because the food was so good. Best of all Mikasa was a joy to work with, friendly, communicative, and clear about all the steps in the process.

We are so grateful Jordan Hunt from THIO recommended Mikasa as a catering option for our wedding. We truly loved our tasting experience and the wedding food itself was plentiful & phenomenal! We ate our leftovers the next night with my husband’s family and were so happy to get to enjoy everything again! The lomo saltado is just incredible, but everything was SO delicious from the spinach empanadas & mini crab cake apps, fresh salad, to the garlic choclo (corn) rice. Their dessert at our tasting was phenomenal too but we had an amazing baker lined up already otherwise we would have absolutely added a Mikasa dessert. Also greatly appreciated the flexibility they had for our numerous dietary restrictions, as that component can be stressful when planning a wedding but they had so many delicious vegan/gluten-free options that all of our guests were happy. Their set-up was beautiful, they even brought in their own items to decorate the catering buffet table. Many complimented our food & we loved having something slightly more unique to typical wedding fare. Ana & Santiago were a pleasure to work with and we are so appreciative of their team! Absolutely recommend them for your wedding or event catering needs! And we will keep visiting their kiosk in the S&W Food Hall downtown Asheville for more delicious empanadas as well:) We are also so heartbroken to see the devastation that Hurricane Helene caused this area shortly after our wedding - we are thinking of all who are in Asheville and surrounding areas and hoping for them to recover quickly
