Smiley's Mountain Photo

It was February 15th 2026 and my beautiful partner Tricia Lorenz and I decided to make our upcoming ski vacation to Sun Valley a last minute wedding trip. Yes only two weeks to plan and pull off a wedding at a place we have never been to. Given the short notice we decided to elope and surprise our family of 10 kids and nine grandaughters after the fact. We contacted the wedding department at Sun Valley resort and they asked our date. We told them March 5th and they responded "what year" and I said this year like in two weeks.... After she finished laughing at me she said they are planning wedding for the 2027-28 season. I asked if they could recommend a local photographer and she said maybe Smiley Mointain Photoography. We called Smiley and he was more than willing to take on the challenge. He asked who our officiant was and of course we didn't have one so he recommended a friend Andrew Sandquist who was a licensed Idaho officiant. With a handful of texts and simple directions we met Smiley and Andrew on May 4th and planned a day of skiing, wedding vows and the most unbelievable pictures and wedding video we could ever have hoped for. We got married at the Roundhouse and spent the next 3 hours talking The most incredible pictures and riding Christmas chair for a top to bottom ski video in my suit and her ball gown wedding dress. Smiley was our official witness on our wedding license and he sent us pictures before we were home from our wedding vacation. Sometimes the simplest planning yields the most incredible results. Not only was the day perfect hut Smiley and Andrew introduced to the Sun Valley community who welcomed us like no other ski community could ever do. We have spent years skiing across North America and we have never felt more at home than Sun Valley. We NEVER could have done this without Smiley and Andrew who forever will be our wedding party. Thomas was so fun and talented! He helped us celebrate our recent engagement with a fun reenactment and great ideas for shots. We love these photos so much and we are so glad we stopped at the top of the lift and asked him to take our photo. He truly went above and beyond to make sure we captured the happy time!

I can not compliment Smiley's Mountain Photo and our photographer Greg enough! I planned to go to Snowbird to propose to my girlfriend. I contacted Smiley's Mountain Photo a few months in advance and we planned a date and time. The morning of turned out to be very cloudy and not great weather. They offered to reschedule for the next day which was supposed to be beautiful. I will say they know what they are doing as it was a spectacular day and time on top of the mountain. Our photographer, Greg, was very clear about the plan and any questions I had. He even skied down the mountain with my now fiancée and I to take pictures of us in beautiful spots around the mountain. He was very accommodating of any requests we had took fabulous photos. He edited them and the turnaround time was very quick. Greg was amazing and we were so lucky he was there to take such amazing photos. I highly recommend Thomas Smiley, the owner who I was in contact with about scheduling the dates and times, and Greg, our photographer. Thank you so much for doing such an amazing job!

I set up a family photo session with Thomas at Smiley Mountain Photo prior to my trip to Sun Valley. He was fantastic! He looked up the weather and set up the photo shoot on the nicest day at the best time; he even suggested the best place for us to take the photos. He took beautiful photos and we were all thrilled - we especially enjoyed the candid photos he took of us all laughing and being goofy. We could not figure out which ones were our favorite, so we bought them all!! We would highly recommend!
