Sun Valley Resort

We booked five nights at this resort. Today, the day of a wedding, has already been ruined. My wife and I arrive for breakfast at the Lodge restaurant. Never have we had a worse experience. We waited forever just to have a waiter come to the table to take our order. Not once did a waiter come by to see if we needed coffee. After an hour and fifteen minutes we still hadn’t received our order! It ultimately took 1:25 to get our order and that happened only after my wife literally walked to the kitchen to complain. All we ordered were two poached eggs, bacon and toast and it took that long. And there were hardly any customers in the restaurant (understandable). When the eggs came they were rock hard - not poached medium but like hard boiled eggs. What an awful experience from a place we paid so much to stay at

Unique, gorgeous hotel with spacious rooms beautifully renovated. The duchin lounge, ice skating, heated pool with drink service, the views, the promenade with all its restaurants and shops, white clouds trail literally across the street is exceptional... Hard to find another place like it, definitely a must visit

My plan: Visit the famous lodge. See if they know how to make a good latte. Decide, if I want to come back with the family. I did not stay: The staff did not make me feel welcome. I enjoyed the architecture, but did not feel like lingering. Maybe that was the goal ...

This experience was disappointing. My husband made a reservation for our anniversary trip 3 month ahead . He intentionally booked one of the premium rooms overlooking the skate rink ( as skating something I truly love), and paid significant price for 4 nights expecting great experience. Upon arrival we were assigned to a different room at the end of the hall with a view of a trees and a road. While questioning about our reservation the staff informed us that we need to stay in the current room and they can move us tomorrow. The thought of unpacking and then repacking the next day and loosing valuable time during our 4 days trip felt exhausting and we decided to stay in assigned room to avoid the disruption. When I asked whether there would be an adjustment in the rate due to a difference in a room category , we were told that the price difference was only $100 per night , which was hard to believe since we paid over a $1000 per night for the premium room. What was the most upsetting was not only inconvenience , but the complete luck of apology or acknowledgment of the situation and no expression of regret for the mistake or understanding of how this affect our special plans . We felt that we were not treated with the care and respect we expected. J & G

Pristine Lodge with fabulous amenities. Outdoor heated pool, gym, hot tub, spa, and bowling alley with game room in basement. Above and beyond service. Highly recommend Sun Valley Lodge.
