29 Palms Inn

I don’t typically write a lot of Google reviews but I felt compelled to after visiting 29 Palms for vacation last week. We booked this place very last minute (as in, the day of the stay) during our California road trip. And I have to say, what a pleasant surprise of a stay. First, from the moment I called, Liz was welcoming and helpful. When we arrived, the Inn felt a little frozen in an earlier time/decade but don’t let that deter you because it was definitely part of the charm. The entire place was beautiful & well maintained. We were given the penthouse suite-it was very clean when we arrived , they had the AC on (which was much appreciated in that heat!), and incredibly spacious. We used the pool and enjoyed the complimentary breakfast before we checked out the next morning. The Inn was just minutes from the Joshua Tree North Entrance and also really convenient to town amenities. Our biggest regret is only staying one night here. We were just passing through to see Joshua Tree but now feel like we will come back here for another trip for some unplugging and relaxing.

Stopped by with colleagues for dinner after work. The ambience and location are nice. Our server seemed rushed and hardly checked in on us, empty plates/ glasses sat for a while. When our server did check on us, she would only focus on checking in on my colleagues drink order since they were having cocktails or beer while I was only having mocktails. Our group order different entrees, and we shared the following appetizers. FRIED CALAMARI 1/5 ⭐ HEARTS OF PALM CAKES 4/5⭐ TOASTED RAVIOL 3/5 ⭐ After tasting the calamari, I adjusted my expectations for my entree. Unfortunately at that point it I felt it was to late to change it. SQUASH SHRIMP & SCALLOPS 3/5 ⭐ Prickly Mule 5/5⭐ Twilight 1/5⭐ For $34 a plate, I was expecting a more flavourful entree, with a bit more sauce. I do however appreciate the staff taking the time to devein the shrimp. Overall, the entree portions, quality of food and service seem a bit high for what you actually get. Food 3/5 ⭐ Service 3/5 ⭐

I've been going for 45 years. The cabins are utterly Charming, cozy and quiet. My favorite thing is to sit on the patio at night and just gaze up at the stars. It's also right next to one of the entrances to Joshua Monument and close enough to town to do some thrift store shopping.

We thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent at 29 Palms Inn. We spent a very enjoyable morning with Pat learning about the area, geology, history, flora and fauna were all covered, along with interesting stories. The area is beautiful. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide! We had an amazing meal at the Restaurant, friendly Staff who accommodated a large group. Wonderful Cocktails and great food!

The restaurant has a wonderful outdoor vibe, which allows for a totally different experience. The food was pretty good, appetizer could have been larger portion for their price point. Everything was truly magical except two key points. One the food came out cold and they were not busy. Service was an epic failure. Our glasses were not filled in a timely matter at all. Drink glasses sat empty on our table for an extremely long time. When our meal was complete and we continued on conversation. The dishes were never taken off the table. For a mandatory 20% gratuity on a party of 6, our waitress should have done at least bare minimums. I would still recommend this place as it is so unique. If you are in the 29 Palms area, give it a try. The atmosphere saved the score. It really should be a 3.5. Hopefully you have a better experience
