We visited for the lunch tasting menu and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. What makes Blue Hill at Stone Barns so special is how thoughtfully every ingredient is presented. The meal highlighted the season and the farm’s harvest in a way that felt both creative and approachable. Even the simplest vegetables were transformed into memorable dishes, showcasing incredible technique and respect for the ingredients. The setting is beautiful, and being surrounded by the farm adds a deeper appreciation for what arrives on the table. The service was warm, attentive, and knowledgeable without ever feeling formal. More than just a meal, it felt like an experience that connects food, farming, and sustainability. A truly memorable lunch and well worth the visit.
The most wonderful fine dining experience, we loved our dinner at Blue Hill. The tour of the farm was definitely an added bonus and a must-do if you’re making the trek up. The vegetables were so fresh, the service was impeccable, and the grounds were so so beautiful. All of the staff were so passionate about food, it was an inspiring experience. Bonus, the bakery has the best corn scallion scones!
Had dinner in the cafeteia side. The dishes were interesting and flavorful but to be honest, for the price (about $200/person including drinks and mandatory 20% tip when you make the reservation), it wasnt worth it. Most of the dishes ingredients were plucked straight from their greenhouse so the cost is minimal. The lamb was very good. Service was no doubt attentive and the servers were very pleasant. Waited about 20 mins for our mains. Astonished to see how many staff were on hand. I counted about 15 staff for about 30 guests. Definitely a high margin business being run here. It was an interesting experience, one worth going to, but was a little put off by the high prices for what was offered. Overall a good experience but hugely overpriced.
Blue Hill at Stone Barns is a legendary sustainable food destination that demands a visit from serious aficionados who appreciate hyper-local food and the people and stories that make it all happen. Like any legendary establishment of this caliber you’ll likely want to get reservations months in advance. We chose the farm tour prior to our meal and ended up spending a total of over 5 hours on property, 4 of which were devoted to the meal. This was truly lavish and we left absolutely stuffed to the brim with delicious (and of course sustainable) food. From cutting your own fresh lettuce at the table to a rotating menu that varies per table not just per day or week or season, there’s something for everyone here. The fare is seasonal, outrageously fresh, and surprisingly flavorful for a largely vegetable-focused menu. This would be a great venue for a vegan or vegetarian person who wanted to experience Michelin star dining. The farm tour was fairly straightforward as my party was pretty well versed in sustainable farming, but it’s wonderful to see things literally in practice and not just read about them from afar. You’ll literally walk around the greenhouses where your food comes from. Love that. You’ll see the mill and bakery that make the bread. They’re even using animal bones to make charcoal and paying close attention to use of plastics. Note that every cutting board in the kitchen is wood! Amazing. They’re setting sustainability standards high. During service you’ll even get to visit the kitchen, talk to the team while sampling creative dishes, and get a true behind the scenes look at the process. You may even spy their multiple forms of composting that get used on property. Nothing goes to waste. Another feather in the sustainability cap. In comparison to other 2 and 3 Michelin establishments, Blue Hill offers more trimmed down and laser focused plates. There is artistry yes, but not much time wasted on stories or lavish details about each dish - there’s just ultra fresh food. Sauces aren’t overly complex. Pairings aren’t overbearing or exotic. This is culinary professionalism mixed with a true farm to table mindset. Nobody is trying to show off too much. Although you’ll get some preparations that do feel very high effort and quite unique. The non-alcoholic pairing offers some amazing fresh and seasonal juices and blends that go very well with most of the dishes but your mileage may vary. They really seem to want to experiment with these and it almost always works, but there are some odd flavors scattered about. Bone ceramic and other fascinating serving tools are also on display. A nice touch. You’ll even spot a spoon in the shape of a shovel in a leather wrapped pouch given to you later in the meal. Many early courses are eaten with the hands. You really get to connect with the food. And again… you’ll leave very full! You will certainly pay for the privilege, but it’s well worth the time spent overall and the surrounding area is beautiful as a bonus. Don’t just zip in and out. Plan your day around this meal. More accessible options also exist at the facility aside from the main Michelin meal. We delight in remembering our dinner here and would certainly return. This is really where sustainability and fine dining intersect with a purpose. It’s a treat.
had a reservation with great expecations and didn't dissappoint. We did the tour as well. Talk about a great story and great food. If you are lucky enough to go here please do. Just amazing food picked that day and cooked to perfection.
