DiMillo's On The Water

One of the best lunches I’ve ever had! Great steakhouse that came recommended by my dad. Had the pleasure of being with my wife here on July 4th for lunch! We arrived right as they opened and we were able to snag some walk in availability! Otherwise, make sure to have reservations! Each of our dishes had an abundance of flavor. I loved the onion rings. Very fresh, the onion stayed inside of its shell and you could tell it was cooked in fresh oil. The broiled haddock is one of my favorite fish dishes I’ve ever had. It knocked my socks off with how well it was made. I’ve never had a broiled fish - usually canned, fresh or fried, but broiled might be the way to go! My wife definitely loved her steak and mashed potatoes. It was one of her favorite steaks. It was described as delicious as it was super tender but rich in flavor. Great atmosphere, great customer service and one 4th of July to not ever forget!

If you're looking for a memorable waterfront dining experience in Portland, DiMillo's on the Water is an excellent choice. We had dinner reservations and were immediately impressed. The restaurant is housed on a massive yacht, making it a truly unique setting. Inside, it's beautiful, spacious, and the dining room offers wonderful views of the harbor, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our server, Chris, made the experience even better. He had a great personality, was attentive without being intrusive, and offered excellent recommendations that we were glad we followed. For dinner, we ordered the Maine haddock fillet stuffed with a savory-sweet butternut squash and cornbread stuffing (like a seafood Thanksgiving), along with the filet topped with a bacon and fig glaze. Both dishes were cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. To finish the meal, we shared the chocolate fudge cake with vanilla ice cream, and it was the perfect ending to an outstanding dinner. An added bonus is the complimentary parking while dining, which makes visiting this busy waterfront area much more convenient. DiMillo's delivered an outstanding dining experience. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Portland

We thought it was just a nice building over the water for ambiance.. turns out, it actually is a ferry! The place was so clean and their food is amazing! Staff were so friendly and approachable as well. Mr. DiMillo was there he went to every table. That dinner made our Portland experience more memorable!

server Was energetic and engaging, checked on us multiple times. Food came out rather quickly. All the staff from the front door, the gift shop to the waitress were super polite and helpful. The atmosphere was great. Lovely view of the water. The boat had a slight sway that led to the atmosphere but not enough to make you nauseous. The food was spot on amazing. I have never in my life eaten reheated salmon but leftover from here were just as good the following day: the portion sizes were great the food was phenomenal. We had crab cakes that dissolved in your mouth. Salmon with a citrus glaze that was absolutely amazing and lobster Mac n cheese. Everything was absolutely delicious. Even heating up leftover the following days the only negative was the bread was a little hard but the waitress was super quick to realize that and apologized right away and brought us out a fresh loaf. They are a little expensive for my normal budget but would definitely save to be able to splurge there again. It was so worth it and it was a wonderful experience.

We had a really nice dinner at DiMillo’s On the Water last night and thoroughly enjoyed the unique experience. The fact that this is an actual historic ship turned into a floating restaurant is so cool — it genuinely feels like you’re dining aboard a vessel, and the harbor views from our table were beautiful. The service was excellent — our server was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The food was solid and fresh; we had the baked stuffed lobster, which was tasty and very similar to what we were hoping for. Everything else on the table was good too — nothing disappointing. The only slight downside was how tricky it was to get a reservation and the longer-than-expected wait before we were seated. That said, once we were on board it was worth it. Overall, a pleasant Portland waterfront dinner with great ambiance and solid seafood. We’d happily return, especially for that incredible view and the novelty of dining on a real ship. Highly recommend!
