A special place to experience New Mexican history and area heritage. We visited on a Wed arrived before 930am to be able to join a 1.5 hour tour of their central grounds. Seeing the layout brought the past to life. Besides swallow nests on the property, they have sheep, burros and goats. There are pathways into their wetlands area and other buildings to explore if you're so inclined. They host festivals on certain weekends The store is full of little treasures. We highly recommend a visit. We really enjoyed ourselves.
Decent outing but not sure worth the drive and cost. Limited things to see and be prepared for lots of walking in the strong sun/heat.
This is a great museum slash events venue slash place to relax just outside town. We thoroughly enjoyed the guided docent tour, the historically preserved structures, and the nature paths around the ranch. Entrance is free for New Mexico residents. The shop is fun. The bathrooms are clean. The water stations around the property are great appreciated.
I have a feeling this review would be completely different had we visited after June 3rd, when they have guides dressed in period clothing, demonstrating, making it more interactive. However, we didn’t, so it’s all U can base my review on. The self-guided tour allows you to walk the grounds, with a map and legend. With the majority of the buildings still locked tight, you are there to take in the exterior. Our visit lasted roughly 20 mins. My advice is to skip this until they are under normal operations in June. The admission staff in the gift shop who greeted us were incredibly kind and welcoming.
We looooooved it!!!! My mom is a member apparently you can get an annual membership and go whenever you want. We went for the Santa Fe Harvest Festival. The kids got to get a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch, go on a hay ride, stomp grapes from the vineyard, make pictures in the old school house. So much to do. We are going back in November to take family pictures because it’s a perfect place for Fall Pics.
