Francis Marion Hotel

The hotel is easy to find, with the main entrance conveniently located on King Street. We stayed in a Deluxe Double Room with a view. The room was clean, comfortable, and offered lovely views of the park. The bathroom was quite small and a bit outdated, but it was functional and met our needs. The walls are extremely thin, and we could clearly hear conversations from the neighboring rooms. Fortunately, it was quiet at night, so it didn't affect our sleep. The hotel also offers a great breakfast buffet. We prepaid $15 per person, and it was well worth it. There was a wide variety of options, including cereal, eggs, grits, bagels, fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, and more, making it easy to find something for everyone. Overall, it's a well-located hotel with clean, comfortable rooms, beautiful park views, and a satisfying breakfast. If you don't mind limited soundproofing, it's a solid choice for your stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Francis Marion. The building itself is absolutely beautiful and has an amazing, historic ambiance from the moment you walk in. The rooms are very nice and clean. While they are a little on the smaller side, the daily housekeeping was fantastic—we had fresh linens and towels every day, and everything had a really pleasant, clean aroma. Our only minor issue was that the AC struggled a bit to keep the room perfectly cool. However, we visited during the absolute peak of summer with a heat index hitting 110°F, so honestly, it’s completely understandable that the historic system was working overtime. Having the Starbucks right in the lobby was a nice, super convenient touch in the morning to grab a coffee and get right out into exploring Charleston. I'd definitely stay here again!

Stayed at the Francis Marion Hotel during my visit to Charleston and had a wonderful experience. The hotel was clean, well-maintained, and beautifully preserved with plenty of historic charm. The staff were consistently friendly, professional, and eager to help with recommendations and any questions I had throughout my stay. The location is excellent, making it easy to explore downtown Charleston on foot. My room was comfortable, quiet, and well-kept, and the overall atmosphere felt welcoming and organized. If you’re looking for a classic Charleston hotel with great service and a convenient location, the Francis Marion is a fantastic choice. I would gladly stay here again. Wade the bellman was amazing and so kind!

The hotel is very upscale and very nice. Our room was awesome and very clean. Parking was ridiculously priced $40 to valet however, you could take your vehicle out any time whereas if you parked in the garage it was $48 and if you moved it you'd be paying another $48. The bellhop takes your luggage to and from your vehicle into your room. Of course remember to tip them. We had breakfast delivered to our room- pay very close attention to that because it is not properly marked and everything that you check you will be billed for. We did wind up disputing that because because it was not clearly marked and they cut our bill down to a reasonable price. With that said it was delicious and huge portions and I will tell you that I asked for hot sauce and they gave me 12 little bottles up Tabasco sauce which was absolutely ridiculous. We took him home because they're not going to reuse them but it was very wasteful. I would recommend staying there.

I had a great stay at Francis Marion Hotel. The building and rooms were spotless. I was honestly shocked that there was no mold anywhere, especially because there was no fan in the bathroom — but everything was extremely well kept and very clean. My favorite part was the cookies they put out each day (even though the time changed each day ). The water was also delicious. Overall, it was a great stay and I loved the rooms.
