Hotel St. Francis

I am fortunate to have traveled quite a bit and this is hands-down one of my favorite hotels in the world. Historic, great energy, excellent staff, great location, low-key luxury and some of the best sleep in the U.S. It’s also become a favorite for my extended family and many friends. I can’t recommend it enough as the primo place to stay when visiting Santa Fe, during all seasons. Excellent on-site dining and steps to Cafe Pasqual’s.

My wife and I stayed here with our dog recently and really enjoyed our visit. The hotel's location is very convenient to a lot of downtown Santa Fe's attractions. The service from the staff was great and they made us feel right at home. It's a cool historic building with a really nice lobby and our room was clean and comfortable. Totally happy with our experience and look forward to our next visit! Thanks!

Stayed here last year with my sister as a pit stop driving down from Colorado as we do every year. Love santa fe as a whole and have stayed in virtually all hotels there. This has got to be one of the biggest disappointments of a hotel I have experienced in a while. We arrived to find a lovely room with a window to the street outside. The Ac was not working so we opened the windows, unfortunately we had to keep them open during the night because of this and WOW. I am a heavy sleeper and there were unmuffled cars ripping down the street outside, police sirens, yelling, and every noise imaginable happening at full volume outside. We attempted to close the windows to muffle the sound and it was STILL incredibly loud. I will not be staying here again because of this. We had to leave early the next day and ended up barely sleeping through the night and hightailing it out of there early in the morning. Worst hotel experience I have ever had and made for an even worse drive home.

If you want the full Santa Fe New Mexico experience, it doesn’t get much better than this. In the heart of downtown so there are many delicious food and drink options within walking distance and the atmosphere and aesthetic compliment the rich south western tradition all of these hotels go for but only some get right. Hotel St Francis along with its attentive and wonderful staff will always be my first recommendation when staying in this one of a kind city.

First, this hotel is old, but Santa Fe is an old city, and staying at the St. Francis is part of the whole SF shtick. The lobby is spare and highly tasteful. Weather allowing, the front doors are usually thrown open. They have a very small retail area where you can purchase NM objects. . .in case you need more momentos. Many of the rooms are tiny. Remember that beds were smaller back in the day when the hotel was new. The up-side it that the size makes checking the room for forgotten clothing items quick. The downside is that one is constantly moving around so the other person in the room can get to, say, the bathroom. The AC in our room did not quite catch up with the hot summer temps. Again, old hotel. Still, the room was clean, and the bed was oh,so comfy. Speaking of the bathroom, it is proportional in size to the room--small, in other words. Many require you to take a step up, which is not ideal. I suppose it was necessary to revise the floor when modern bathroom fixtures were installed. As far as location is concerned, it is almost perfect. While the St. Francis is not right on the Plaza, it is close enough. You will find many places for delicious meals near by. If you need to venture further, there is a convenient parking lot across the street. Compared with newer hotels and hotels situated on the Plaza, the St. Francis rooms rates seem more sane. If you choose to stay at the St. Francis, remember that there will be trade-offs. Be informed, and enjoy the authentic SF accommodations.
