Extremely disappointing experience, as it looks like has been the case for many others in recent months. The website states you will be treated to a gourmet gluten free breakfast experience, but when the time came for breakfast, we were notified no such breakfast is served anymore. Weird given itβs clearly advertised on the website and instagram. The rooms are somewhat outdated, no staff on site. Coffee selection is Amazon branded happy belly espresso pods. Not what Iβd expect for somewhere charging $400+ per night.
I would go back. Neighborhood is easy to walk into downtown Napa. Its quiet and safe. We stayed in the Fowler Cottage and its very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and we chose it two out of our three days just due to the fact that its only served between 8-8:30am. The Inn is not staffed full time, all communication is through text messaging. Our first night there we were the ONLY guests and the only people on the property. The second two nights the Inn was busy with other guests but we never really saw anyone. We felt the price met the comfort of the Inn.
+ Fowler Cottage was lovely (Great bathtub, comfortable bed) + Quiet, safe neighborhood, and near Napa Downtown + The check in online worked quite well and we were able to enter out cottage without issues. ( no staff is available during check in or out!) - Breakfast was a huge dissapointment. Not at all what they mention on their website. First and last photo are what they mention on their website and others what we got during our stay. The quality and amount was just not gourmet like. Food was bland, sometimes cold and very dry. - We received text and also emails about the breakfast, ones our response did not show on their system so we received a text βno breakfast tomorrow?β. It was also confusing if we will receive the breakfast to our cottage or if the breakfast is at the main building (first morning we waited in our cottage as during the online check in we had chosen to have our breakfast there and suddenly received a sms saying the breakfast is served in the dining room) - Breakfast staff kept changing during our stay. First breakfast: there were 3 people in the kitchen and they were arguing in the kitchen. They were very stressed. Second and third breakfast: One lady working. She was nice, but seemed to be in a hurry to serve us breakfast. She was also sneezing in the kitchen. - Cottage and the surroundings not anymore so up to date as pictured on the website. Windows and cealing had spider webs - Customer service poor if you need recommendations or help. We had contacted Inn on Randolph about some Napa recommendations before our arrival. Just a wine tour organizer was copied to an email sent to me by Sally. When the booking was made through your website (I was using my mobile phone) I did not realize that the FAQ had some recommendations. I wish Sally would have mentioned it on her Emails. I also contacted them about the breakfast during our stay, but got no response. - We did not feel welcomed and the kitchen staff we met during our stay didnβt seem happy to be there. Other Inns we have been in USA have welcomed us with note or a small gesture. Our stay was special to me as we were celebrating my birthday and I chose this Inn because of the gluten free breakfast (I had mentioned this in my Email), so of course I thought they would have put a little bit more effort and even written a small welcome note.
Our experience at the Inn on Randolph was the worst we've ever had while traveling. We tried to work this out with the management to give them a chance to make it right and give us a partial refund, thinking perhaps they were having an off week, and they have been nothing but hateful and dismissive. They even threatened to sue us if we left honest reviews. We will not be bullied into silence. The Inn itself was fine. Not luxurious by any means, but it was fine. It is in a neighborhood, so there are no gorgeous views like a lot of the other inns have. The bed was hard. We killed a roach in our room. The fireplace could not be used for the first three days of our four day stay. They even took the cushions away from our outdoor patio furniture so we couldn't sit outside to enjoy the fresh air. Our room was never serviced during the first three days because they said they didn't have an extra key and the digital lock was broken. They expected us to stay in the room to let housekeeping in if we wanted service. So we didn't get clean towels, fresh water, etc. for the first three days. They broke their contract with us over and over again by not providing the promised amenities and service, but they were threatening, disrespectful, and hateful when we asked for half of our money back due to the horrible service we received and them breaking their end of the contract (we fulfilled all of our obligations). And worst of all, I have celiac disease and was glutened terribly during one of the breakfasts they provided that was supposed to be gluten free (and the breakfasts were not gourmet at all -- we ate them because we needed sustenance, but we make much better food at home). I was extremely ill the rest of the day and could not go to the wine tastings for which we had already paid. This was a special trip for my birthday and our anniversary combined, and it was nearly ruined by mismanagement at the Inn on Randolph. We would give them zero stars if we could. It would have been better to stay at a hotel and use the money saved on accommodations to do more fun things around Napa. We can never recommend the Inn on Randolph to anyone. The Inn on Randolph has lied and said our claims are unsubstantiated, but we have text proof of our claims. We asked twice how to speak to someone about a partial refund, and our requests were ignored. Than several days after our stay ended and we emailed to try again, they responded that we were liars but they would give us $200 as a "goodwill gesture" to close the matter. That is an insult after we paid over $2,200 for our stay, during which they broke their contract multiple times. We refused their hush money and left an honest review to try to keep others from having the same horrible experience we had.
I stayed at the Inn on Randolph for three nights with my wife to celebrate our anniversary. The Union Room was great, as it had its own exterior entrance and was a very comfortable size. Breakfast was very well done. We especially enjoyed the location of the Inn, as it was a short walk into downtown on a very quiet street. I look forward to staying here again in the future.
