Beautiful place to visit with amazing views and a lot of history. The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse was built in 1860 and is one of the oldest landmarks in this area. It was built to help guide ships safely along the coast. The museum explains how lighthouse keepers worked before electricity, including carrying oil up to keep the light burning. The grounds are peaceful, with beautiful trees, water views, and great photo spots. The climb to the top is worth it for the view. Friendly staff, well-kept property, and a great place for families, visitors, and anyone who enjoys history. Highly recommended it if you have friends and family visiting.
While on vacation, we spent some time at The Jupiter Lighthouse. The place is beautiful, a great history lesson. We did not have time to visit the Museum, but we did climb the 105 steps to the top Landing of the lighthouse. The climb is not especially challenging, but if you are older, bad knees, very young children, it can be a challenge. The steps are black iron winding staircase. Itβs an enjoyable experience. WONDERFUL PLACE WITH INCREDIBLY RICH HISTORY My wife and I visited here on Sunday, March 22 and again on Tuesday, March 24 2026. On March 22, the site was host of the annual River to Reef Art Festival so admission was free and we got to see about 30 booths featuring local artists crafts. Since it was fairly crowded that day, we went back to tour the Lighthouse Museum (admission was $12 each for Seniors like us) and climb the stairs to the top of the Lighthouse itself on the following Tuesday. It's really a wonderful place. We took the Docent guided tour on Tuesday and our guide was very knowledgeable. The Museum is every bit as interesting as the Lighthouse itself, and you could easily spend two hours inside because there is so much history to learn about this unique area of Florida that literally sits on the "Tropic Line". The lighthouse climb itself is self-guided and it is a pretty good workout. I recall it was about 130 steep stairs, and I was pretty winded once we got to the top, but the view on the outside walk-around balcony is absolutely stunning. There is PLENTY free parking in front of the museum.
What a beautiful lighthouse, but itβs so much more. The surroundings and the museum that was the lighthouse keeperβs house and the shop and the 90 year old banyan tree. Itβs all worth the visit. We make it a point to always visit the local lighthouse because we love them and we were on our way to Vero Beach and had to stop by this site for sure and we donβt regret it. We climbed it of course and it was amazing. Just love it!! And plenty of free parking which I think is so important.
A beautiful way to spend a morning or afternoon. So many helpful people who work or volunteer there. Really beautiful nature. Many interesting exhibits. Especially great for kids. Definitely walk the 105 steps of the spiral staircase to the top for amazing views.
