Paletta Mansion

As a photographer, I genuinely loved working at Paletta Mansion. It is one of those rare locations where a complete engagement gallery can be created without spending part of the session driving between several places. The historic stone mansion gives photographs an elegant and timeless character. The front entrance, arched windows, columns, red door, terraces, stone walls, and staircases all provide strong architectural backgrounds, while the surrounding gardens soften everything with greenery and natural light. What impressed me most was how quickly the atmosphere changes as you move through the property. Within a short walk, you can photograph beside the formal mansion facade, along curved garden paths, under mature trees, on the large open lawn, and then continue down toward the rocky Lake Ontario shoreline. Each area has a different feeling, but the entire gallery still looks visually connected. We recently photographed Anastasiia and Petr’s engagement session here. We began with more refined portraits near the mansion, continued through the gardens and stone pathways, and finished with relaxed, playful photographs on the lawn and beside the water. The late-afternoon sunlight coming through the trees was especially beautiful and gave us a wonderful combination of bright portraits, soft shade, warm backlighting, and long shadows. The property also feels full of life. During our visit, there were Canada geese and ducks near the shoreline, squirrels around the paths, and plenty of movement in the trees and gardens. Despite being relatively close to the city, parts of the grounds feel quiet and removed from the surrounding neighbourhood. From a photographer’s perspective, it is helpful to arrive early and walk through the property before the session. The mansion is surrounded by large trees, so the direction and quality of the light can vary considerably between the entrance, gardens, lawn, and waterfront. Planning the route around the light makes a noticeable difference. One important thing for couples and photographers to know is that a professional photoshoot should be arranged in advance. Contact Paletta Mansion before confirming the session date, obtain the appropriate photography permit, and ask exactly which areas are included. Availability can depend on private weddings and other events taking place at the venue. I would not recommend simply arriving with a professional photographer and expecting unrestricted access. The surrounding park is also a public space, so walkers, dogs, wildlife, and other visitors may occasionally be present. This was not a problem for us, but it is worth understanding that the entire property may not be completely private during a portrait session. Overall, Paletta Mansion is a beautiful, versatile, and memorable photography location in Burlington. It offers the elegance of a historic estate, the softness of landscaped gardens, and the relaxed feeling of the Lake Ontario waterfront in one place. I would be very happy to photograph another engagement session or wedding here.

As a wedding photographer, I love working at Paletta Mansion. It’s beautiful, but never overwhelming. Elegant, yet warm. There are endless photo spots without ever leaving the property: the lake, gardens, around the mansion. Everything flows naturally. The atmosphere feels intimate. Even with more guests, it still feels personal, close and connected. The light inside the mansion is soft and flattering, perfect for getting ready and quiet in-between moments. Paletta Mansion is ideal for couples who want beauty, variety, and a relaxed wedding day. It’s very timeless.

This is such a pretty place for a gorgeous walk, photos or an event. Have visited many times but visited the inside for an event most recently. It's such a beautifully preserved home. Great location for a special birthday, retirement, shower or smaller wedding. Beware there are some cobblestones outside, ladies in heels! Amble parking. Not sure the second floor is accessible to guests in wheelchairs although I think there may an elevator somewhere in the building.

Amazing, super scenic and very well maintained place. Perfect for family functions like birthday, engagement, baby shower etc. with gathering of 50-70 people.

We recently had our wedding at Paletta Mansion, and it was an amazing success. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and efficient. Gabriel, the bartender, was fantastic—always checking in and making sure no one ever went without. The food was great and the atmosphere was beautiful. Our coordinator, Alexandria, was always available for questions and made sure every detail and every change we made was noted, understood. Ian was flawless in the execution of my wedding plan. I had to make a few last minute changes due to weather and Ian made my panic disappear. One of the things we loved most about Paletta is that you get the entire mansion to yourself for the day. It created such an intimate, relaxed atmosphere. I was able to arrive early in the morning with my bridal party to set up a few things while we were getting our hair and makeup done, and everything flowed perfectly from that moment onward. It was a wonderful experience, and we will always hold beautiful memories of our wedding at Paletta Mansion.
