Pippin Hill Farm and Vineyards

Last month my wife and I celebrated her birthday here and couldn't be more pleased with the experience. I contacted the staff beforehand to ask for a quiet table and they went the extra mile by upgrading my indoor reservation to the far patio, with an incredible view of the grounds and mountains in the distance. It was the perfect backdrop for a relaxing lunch. The food, wine & service were all top tier. Taylor took very good care of us and made good recommendations. I'm looking forward to our next visit

Great food, excellent wine, warm service. But…having studied more negative reviews I understand the reasons for the lack of shade/umbrellas, schedule changes, etc. some of these policies still do not make sense to me as a customer—why do walk-ins not get the same treatment as reservations when it comes to how food is being served— picking up at front desk all the food in cardboard boxes while people 6ft from you at the same wrap around porch are being served the regular way? If I can carry a box, I assure you I can carry a plate. Also the waitress later said we were not supposed to have stemmed glasses, and they use small chubby stemless instead—for $40+ bottles of wine, if I was handed that initially I’d leave. Conclusion: must have a reservation to be properly served on shaded porch or inside. The walk in spots are MUCH more aesthetically pleasing and ambient but probably will have to serve yourself/ eat from cardboard boxes/ drink from stemless glass.

Views are absolutely stunning and the food and wine are gorgeous too. You're greeted straight away before you walk down and the service inside was fantastic (reception and server - John). John was knowledgeable about his wines and gave some good recommendations. Outside you can sit on the grass and there's an outside lawn menu for those who rather do that. It closes early at 5pm and I recommend pre booking your Uber. --- We got stuck out there without being able to get a taxi or Uber (despite pre-booking) because there was a concert at the same time. Thankfully the manager Nathan gave us a lift 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 very much appreciated

An excellent trip just outside Charlotsville. The drive is pretty. The atmosphere and food is great. But the wine was a bit underwhelming. We tried the Red and Reserve flights. Except a couple most of them packed body.

Pippin Hill! This is a very flashy, very tasteful, very elegant winery. The buildings are gorgeous, the grounds and view is breathtaking, and the overall vibe is electric! The wines come in small bottles when you order flights. We shared 3 flights between 6 of us, and was just 2 sips each wine; I would not recommend trying to share with more than 6, it won’t work. 6 was pushing it! But, it gave us all a chance to try 12 different wines without feeling like we were consuming too much alcohol. The food is some sort of wizardry; the cauliflower was unlike anything I’ve had before. Oh, and pizza is only available in the cold months (the kitchen gets too hot). We had the sliders; they came 2 per plate so we were able to split those and stretch out our time (and money and tummies) for other things. Our group enjoyed the froze slushies after our flights were gone. Dress up, look pretty and you’ll fit right in! It was awesome to see so many beautiful dresses and outfits in one place. Overall, this a fun place for great (differently curated) foods and wines to sample. We look forward to visiting them each year!
