Pippin Hill Farm

I’ve wanted to visit this winery for a while and was super excited to come here, as a part of my Birthday trip to C-ville! I’ll be honest and say that something about my visit felt a bit “off”.. I had a reservation for 1:15pm, though we came up to a host stand a few minutes late (couldn’t resist to take some photos upon arrival with all the gorgeous flowers 🪻🌸🙈)! I booked a table inside and left a note saying that I’d like a table near the window (I originally was considering a covered veranda, but there weren’t any availability, which is understandable, since I booked it only one day in advance). As we arrived, a gentleman greeted us at the “hydrangeas corridor” and took photos of us, which was very nice of him! The hosts were fairly friendly, we inquired about the veranda seating, and since there weren’t any - the hostess offered to grab our wine glasses after food and enjoy the time outside near the greenhouse, which I thought was actually a great plan! It was very hot outside, I didn’t even realize it, until I walked inside, where it was nice and cool with AC! Got seated at the furthest table from the window. Asked the staff member if we could sit at the free table right by the window, as I mentioned that in my reservation note, and wasn’t sure why we couldn’t get that table, while it was free (both tables fit 4 people). The staff member said, that he’ll check to make sure there were no reservations for that table, which left me wondering again, since I also had a reservation.. We did get moved eventually, which I made me happy! We got our appetizer close to 2pm, and 30 minutes later - the server already notified us that there is another reservation coming in at 3pm. I started to feel a bit anxious and felt like it was time to leave, though the table right next to us was free, which left me wondering again, why the upcoming reservation couldn’t be seated at the table right next to us.. The server offered to buy some wine bottles, but I already didn’t feel like buying any wine to go, and just wanted to hurry up and leave, so that the staff had enough time to prep the table for next guests. Anyways, food was delicious and wine experience was great, but something about the overall atmosphere of a busy, popular place, with a slight hint of arrogance in the air 😅 I totally understand though, the time allowed for experience was 1.5 hours, and we left about 2:45pm, however - a big party next to us, who were there before us - didn’t seem rushed to leave at all. Anyways, as per Google Maps - 3-star is “Good”, so rating my experience as “Overall Good”! ☀️ Might try to visit again in a less busier time of the year! 🥰

Last month my wife and I celebrated her birthday here and couldn't be more pleased with the experience. I contacted the staff beforehand to ask for a quiet table and they went the extra mile by upgrading my indoor reservation to the far patio, with an incredible view of the grounds and mountains in the distance. It was the perfect backdrop for a relaxing lunch. The food, wine & service were all top tier. Taylor took very good care of us and made good recommendations. I'm looking forward to our next visit

First-time visitors today and we were very impressed. Pippin Hill is exceptional. The property is stunning and our food was perfectly prepared. All wines we sampled were great. Our tasting room associate was the highlight! Daryl was extremely attentive, knowledgeable, entertaining and kind. We hope to return and we hope Daryl can help us again. Really stellar experience all around!

Our favorite! We came in 2020 and finally made it back recently. What a wonderful spot! The staff were outstanding and the food and wine were next level! Make a reservation if you can. We are still talking about the cauliflower!

An excellent trip just outside Charlotsville. The drive is pretty. The atmosphere and food is great. But the wine was a bit underwhelming. We tried the Red and Reserve flights. Except a couple most of them packed body.
