Rosewood Sand Hill

I’ve been coming to Rosewood Sand Hill for years, and it’s still one of my favorite places in the Bay Area. Thursday nights at the bar are especially fun; there’s always a lively crowd, great cocktails, and a really good atmosphere without feeling over the top. The spa is one of the best I’ve been to, and the pool is beautiful. It definitely gets more crowded than it used to, but it’s still an incredible place to spend an afternoon. The rooms are expensive, but they’re also top-notch. Everything feels thoughtfully designed, the service is consistently excellent, and the entire property is impeccably maintained.

Came for a pool day because I had an evening meeting in the area. Property is stunning. Service is 10/10. Food is 10/10. It was a weekday so the pool wasn’t too crowded, maybe 50-60% capacity at most, which was nice and peaceful. One of the few days I’ve had at a hotel in recent memory where absolutely nothing annoyed me and everything was perfect! Chefs kiss!

Breakfast itself, the french omelette was not that tastey because the creammy cheese inside did not blend well with the eggs and it does not come with bread or potato so it was just ok. Service was excellent and real good. Atmosphere there is always perfect.

I came here to celebrate my friend’s birthday. We had afternoon tea for a group of 10 girls in the private room. The afternoon tea we had came with custom menus, four tea sandwiches per person, and a beautiful assortment of desserts. It was more than enough food for one girl. I especially loved that we each were able to enjoy our own teapot, and so we chose the type of tea we each wanted. I had the red tea which was fragrant with a subtle floral undertone. Rosewood is, of course, a beautiful hotel. The dining and patio areas are gorgeous. The staff are friendly and helpful. The private room had a booking fee and a minimum. It was a bit steep but I think the quality of the food reflects it. Everything I tried was well made and thoughtful - not too sweet and a good balance of components for every course. However, the private room felt a bit small, not very luxurious. There was no music playing and so it would feel too quiet when we were not having conversation. If you value privacy, then the private booking is great for you. Otherwise, I’m not sure if it justifies being away from the beautiful main dining room.

I ordered an iced Americano, but what I got was basically just water. It had nothing to do with coffee. I returned it, and despite that, they disrespectfully said “bye” behind my back in a mocking way. This kind of condescending and disrespectful attitude toward customers is unacceptable. There is no quality and no respect here. I definitely do not recommend this place.
