Sheraton Anchorage Hotel and Spa

Beautiful hotel with wonderful, friendly service. This was great spot from which to base our three night stay with day trips to Talkeetna and down the Turnagin arm to Seward. For great views of Anchorage and the surrounding area, check out the Flat Top Mountain viewing area!

Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (around 3.7–3.9/5 from guest reviews) Good points: ✅ Good downtown Anchorage location — walkable to places like the museum and shopping areas. ✅ Guests often like the friendly staff, cleanliness, comfortable beds, and views (city/mountain views). ✅ Has useful facilities like fitness center, restaurant, Wi-Fi, and business/event spaces.

I stayed at this property for three nights during a work trip, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. Upon arrival, I attempted to enter through a side door by the parking lot, which requires a key card or assistance via a doorbell. Since I hadn’t checked in yet, I rang the bell for about 10 minutes in -6° weather with no response. I was only able to get inside when another guest exited and let me in. At check-in, I was informed that several TVs had not been working for about a week and that mine might be affected—which it was. My TV did not work for the entire duration of my stay. I was granted access to the lounge, which I appreciated, but the overall experience there was also lacking. The morning attendant did not acknowledge guests and appeared disengaged, spending most of the time on her phone. Additionally, the food offerings seemed old and stale, so I chose not to return after the first visit. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, which are clearly needed. My room had several maintenance issues, including mold in the shower, a loose faucet, and a toiletries tray that was coming off the wall. Given these concerns, I would not recommend staying here until renovations are fully completed. I hope improvements are made, as the property has potential, but it did not meet expectations during my stay.”

I had a really good stay at the Sheraton. The staff was super friendly and made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The breakfast was amazing, definitely the best I've had out of all the places I've stayed. I'd happily stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great hotel.

I stayed here five days and had a terrible experience. The staff here were all extremely rude and constantly made me feel unwelcome! I only had one good experience with the staff there and she was in room service. All of the other receptionists and managers overcomplicated the simplest questions. No matter how nice I was the staff here continued to be unhelpful and plainly rude for no reason. The rooms didn’t make up for the terrible staff either. They were so small and the shower pressure was awful. The warmer I made the water in the shower the louder the pipes got so I had to take colder showers just to not disturb other guests. It was so bad I decided I needed to change my reservation and go somewhere else. I ended up going to the captain cook where the staff and rooms were exceedingly nicer. I wish I stayed at the captain cook the whole time because the Sheraton honestly ruined my time here and I would never ever recommend this hotel to anybody. They couldn’t even print me out a receipt when I asked for one and when I finally got one it was all wrong. Save yourself the trouble and pick probably any other hotel in anchorage.
