The Harlow

This was a really cute vegan restaurant in a very nice area in Portland. I love the patio seating and the food was really good. If you’re not much into vegan food, it may be something to get used to. The flavors are fresh and pretty unique. We tried the walnut pancakes, they were big & good but they do have a cinnamon & ginger flavor, tastes a little like carrot cake. We also tried the biscuits, which were good but a little harder in texture than expected but they were vegan so that’s typical. We also tried the chili, which we thought it’ll be a soup but it’s more like a veggie bowl. We also tried the vegan pesto grilled cheese, which was really good, my favorite and it came with a Russian soup (forgot the name) with beets and tasted like chicken soup but it looked very different than what one may be expected to see. Overall, if you would like to try vegan food, I highly recommend them.

We had the pesto garden scramble (w/tempeh) and banana pancakes. Both delicious. I appreciate how generous they are with the tempeh (so good btw). The pancakes were very good, though I wish they offered berries as a topping option instead of just bananas. The hot chocolate and mocha latte were just okay. Neither had even a hint of sweetness. When we asked for agave or maple to sweeten them, they gave us some type of sugar water that made our drinks even more watery. We came back another day for lunch and had the mushroom stroganoff (it was unexpectedly spicy) and Betty bowl w/ quinoa and garlic tahini (delicious!).

So fresh, papaya salad was delicious! Forgot to ask for an immune shot in the smoothie and owner gave it on the house. Atmosphere really on it, 2pac on a Sunday morning? Yes please. Smoothies were great texture and so many options. Go to place. Very busy but went through the lone quick. Staff very helpful and attentive to special needs. Will be back.

An all vegetarian and gluten free restaurant.🌱✨ I had the UTOPIAN DREAM SALAD with green papaya, a Thai style fresh salad and it was so delicious and refreshing.🥗💛 I also tried a bit of the HAWTHORNE MAC and it was creamy but not heavy, with such a tasty vegan cheese!🧀🌿

Want to eat healthy but something with flavor? This is the spot. There is a wide selection of choices as well as a wider selection of fresh juices and smoothies. Don't let lack of parking deter you. There is public parking in the back of the building. Also, you place and pay for orders at the counter. There is no assigned seating so you'll want to see if seats are available before ordering.
