We are not from the Nashville area and were planning our wedding and booked another venue that cancelled on us 3 weeks before our wedding - we were able to quick rebook with Traveller's Rest and it was perfect and even better than our original venue! The outdoor ceremony was beautiful, we were able to do our cocktail hour in the gardens, and the venue was perfect for our 130 person wedding. We worked with Ashley who was PHENOMENAL - so knowledgeable, accommodating, and worked so hard to make sure everything was in place and went smoothly. I would absolutely recommend this place for anyone planning a wedding!
Today I visited a historic home in Nashville Tennessee called The Travelers Rest. The original house was completed in 1799 and was the home of Judge John Overton. This home is one of the oldest historic homes in the Nashville area that is still open to the public and I completely recommend a visit to this amazing landmark. The property is beautifully landscaped and has 150 year old magnolia trees that line the driveway and surround the house. The tour of the interior of the home and the grounds was guided by Hannah Fleming-Sarkar, an extraordinary historian and storyteller! She brought history to life with her knowledge and her humor! If you're visiting Nashville and you want a really interesting historical site to visit, Travelers Rest is an excellent choice.
We truly enjoy learning more and more about the rich history of Nashville each time we visit places like this π Itβs fascinating to hear the stories connected to this property and everything that has happened here over the years. Honestly, it feels like a small miracle that this place has survived through time and still stands today to share its story with visitors π Not only does it still exist, but it has also been preserved incredibly well. You can tell that a lot of care has gone into protecting its history. The docents were also fantastic β very knowledgeable, well prepared, and full of interesting facts and details that made the experience even more engaging πβ¨
Our family recently visited and had a wonderful time at Travellers Rest! Our tour guide gave us ample information while making the tour fun for adult and young children alike. The home and grounds are well maintained, the site itself is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this historic site to those of all ages.
I came as a chaperone for my daughters school field trip and the experience was great! We all learned so much and got to see the classroom and house! Also, kids got to make a candle and play with toys from 200 years ago! We all had a great time. The whole place is sooo beautiful. Surrounded by these huge and beautiful treesβ€οΈ
