Memorable and unique. I stayed here in October 2025 and after a long drive arrived in the middle of a wedding. In the chaos my brother and I were given a drink, and a look around the place while we waited. The next morning there was breakfast and champagne in the kitchen. The place was vibrant at times and quiet at others, there were conversations with strangers, metals keys, and creaky floors like something from another time. The hotel owner, David, was a pleasure and we were there for the first day he got his new breakfast bell. Go if you're looking for something different than you expect. I plan to go again.
I stayed at the Degas House during Jazz Fest this past weekend. It is a historic landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The rooms are comfortable and tastefully appointed with period furnishings and art reproductions of Degas’s work. My favorite place is the courtyard which has so much character! The porches are the place that I saw most people hanging out. They have breakfast, a bar and a beautiful grand piano.
We recently had the pleasure of attending a jazz music event at Degas House in New Orleans, and it was truly a memorable experience. The historic charm of the house creates an intimate and elegant atmosphere that perfectly complements the spirit of New Orleans jazz. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the rich history and artistic energy of the space. The setting is warm and inviting, making it easy to relax and fully enjoy the performance. The musicians were incredibly talented, delivering soulful, authentic jazz that captured the essence of the city. Every note felt alive, and the acoustics of the venue added to the magic of the evening. What stood out most was how personal the experience felt—being so close to the performers made it feel less like a concert and more like a private gathering. It’s the kind of place where music, history, and culture come together beautifully.
This place is unsuitable for accommodation. It's a house where they hold occasional events and have also decided to host people. I received arrival instructions by email, but practically nothing that was described was done. Breakfast is practically nonexistent; they bought bread, some fruit, and left a coffee machine with a few capsules for use, but everything was very basic. On a hot night, cockroaches appeared in the room I was staying in. There is no staff or anyone who stays there for very long. The staff were kind and friendly, but overall the accommodation wasn't good.
We stayed at the Degas House over the weekend in several rooms for our large family. David and the whole staff went out of their way to make our trip wonderful. Breakfast in particular was a lot of fun getting the B&B vibe of getting to know our hosts, recommendations for the area, and chatting with other guests. It was a wonderful, unique experience and exactly what we were hoping for.
